The “The New Look” trailer by Apple TV+.
The trailer for Todd A. Kessler’s upcoming riveting historical drama series “The New Look,” which stars Academy Award winner Juliette Binoche as Coco Chanel and Emmy Award winner Ben Mendelsohn as Christian Dior, was released today on Apple TV+. “The New Look,” which is based entirely in Paris and is inspired by real events, follows fashion designers Christian Dior, Coco Chanel, and their peers as they negotiated the horrors of World War II and invented modern fashion. The first three episodes of the ten-episode drama series will air globally on Apple TV+ beginning Wednesday, February 14, 2024. Thereafter, one episode will air on Wednesdays through April 3.
“The New Look” is centered on the crucial period of the 20th century when Paris, thanks to its fashion hero Christian Dior, brought the world back to life, against the backdrop of the Nazi occupation of the city during World War II. Chanel’s position as the most well-known fashion designer in the world is under threat as Dior gains notoriety with his ground-breaking, iconic mark of beauty and influence. The intricate tale tells the unexpected tales of Dior’s opponents and peers, including Chanel, Pierre Balmain, Cristobal Balenciaga, and others. It also offers a breathtaking look inside Christian Dior’s workshop and the designs and clothes he produces in partnership with the House of Dior.
Mendelsohn and Binoche are leading the ensemble cast of “The New Look,” which also stars Glenn Close as “Carmel Snow,” Emily Mortimer as “Elsa Lombardi,” John Malkovich as “Lucien Lelong,” Maisie Williams as “Catherine Dior,” and Claes Bang as “Spatz.”
Grammy Award winner Jack Antonoff is the producer and curator of the series’ immersive and modern soundtrack, which includes renditions of well-known songs from the early to mid-1900s by performers such as Bleachers, Nick Cave, Perfume Genius, Lana Del Rey, Matty Healy (The 1975), and Florence Welch.
