BET+ Renews Hit Comedy The Ms. Pat Show for Season 5 and Expands Multi-Platform Deal with Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams
BET+ announced it has renewed the Emmy-nominated The Ms. Pat Show for a fifth season and expanded its partnership with creator and star Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams. Known for its unfiltered storytelling and bold approach, The Ms. Pat Show has won over audiences and critics alike with its real-life-inspired take on the modern American sitcom. The show has earned three consecutive Emmy nominations for Outstanding Directing for a Comedy Series (2022-2024), solidifying its place in television as a unique and daring voice in comedy.
Alongside the series renewal, BET Media Group has extended Williams’ overall deal, which encompasses her creative input across both BET’s linear and streaming platforms. This deal includes the production of new series and projects like Ms. Pat Settles It, a fan-favorite BET show that showcases her talents beyond the sitcom format.
Since its debut in August 2021, The Ms. Pat Show has stood out for its authentic, often hard-hitting humor rooted in Williams’ own experiences, as chronicled in her memoir Rabbit: The Autobiography of Ms. Pat. The show follows a former drug dealer and convicted felon turned suburban mom, and it has broken new ground with its R-rated language and episodes covering timely and controversial issues like non-binary pronouns, school shootings, racism, and drug addiction. The show’s unfiltered look at a multi-generational African American family’s life resonates with viewers, offering a fresh rethinking of the American sitcom.
Returning alongside Williams for season five are series regulars J. Bernard Calloway, Tami Roman, Vince Swann, Briyana Guadalupe, Theodore John Barnes, and Brittany Inge. Executive producers include Williams, Jordan E. Cooper, Patrick Walsh, Lee Daniels, Brian Grazer, Deb Evans, Jon Radler, and Natalie Berkus, with Mary Lou Belli continuing her role as director. Rose Catherine Pinkney will join as co-executive producer for BET+.
Production on the new season is scheduled to begin in February 2025, with a premiere date to be announced. Produced by Imagine Television, DaeLight Media, and Lee Daniels Entertainment, The Ms. Pat Show continues to make its mark as a groundbreaking comedy that brings a new level of authenticity and boldness to BET+.
With this expanded multi-platform deal, Patricia “Ms. Pat” Williams is set to continue her impact on BET’s content landscape, bringing her unapologetic voice and comedic insights to a broader range of projects. The comedian, actress, and producer is represented by Independent Artist Group, Tigerman Management, and Garrett Legal.
