Samantha Lockwood Shines in High-Stakes Thriller A Line of Fire
When Samantha Lockwood steps into a room, she doesn’t just enter—she commands attention. There’s a magnetic warmth to her, paired with an intensity that hints at both the grit and depth she brings to the screen. That energy is on full display in A Line of Fire, the upcoming action thriller premiering September 2 on Prime Video and Apple TV, where Lockwood stars alongside
Academy Award® winner Cuba Gooding Jr. and Jason Patric. For Lockwood, this isn’t just another action film—it’s a career-defining moment. “What immediately drew me in was a mix of intensity and non-stop action,” she tells Perception Magazine. “It’s not just an action movie for the sake of action—at its core, it’s about choices under fire. That’s what makes it meaningful.”

Becoming Mya
In the film, Lockwood embodies Mya, a woman who balances toughness with vulnerability. On the surface, Mya is a fighter: quick, resourceful, and unflinching. Beneath that grit, however, lies a woman grappling with difficult decisions and the weight of doing the right thing. “Mya is resilience embodied,” Lockwood says. “Her vulnerability is what makes her brave. She’s strong, but she’s not invincible. That’s what makes her a hero.”
The role challenged Lockwood both physically and emotionally. “There’s a scene where everything is collapsing—literally and emotionally—and I had to push myself physically while staying fully tapped into Mya’s inner turmoil. Timing the stunt work with an emotional response was tricky, but we nailed it as a team. Our director’s experience with stunts was a huge advantage.”
Sharing the Spotlight
While Lockwood didn’t share scenes with Cuba Gooding Jr., she admired his electrifying energy. “Cuba brings a raw, emotional intensity that elevates everyone on set,” she says. Her scenes with Jason Patric, however, required a different rhythm. “Jason has this subtle, magnetic energy,” Lockwood explains. “He gives just enough to draw a real reaction from you. It keeps every moment alive. Cuba and Jason are drastically different in tone, but equally magnetic. That balance gives A Line of Fire its heartbeat—it’s high-octane, but it also has real heart.”
Hollywood in Her Blood Lockwood’s talent may run in the family. She is the daughter of Gary Lockwood (2001: A Space Odyssey, Splendor in the Grass) and actress-entrepreneur Denise DuBarry (Being There). Beyond acting, DuBarry pioneered infomercials and alongside Samantha founded yoga studios frequented by Hollywood’s elite. “My mom reminded me so much of Mya,” Lockwood reflects. “Cool, calm, collected—but when push comes to shove, brave and good. That personal connection helped me anchor the character.”

Building a Career of Substance
Lockwood’s journey to A Line of Fire has been deliberate and eclectic. Early indie roles in Shoot the Hero and Nick Cassavetes’ God Is a Bullet gave her comfort with stunts and weapons. She also earned a coveted role in Catherine Hardwicke’s Lords of Dogtown, acting opposite Heath Ledger, Emile Hirsch, and Johnny Knoxville. “Being chosen by Catherine Hardwicke was special.
I admired her work on Thirteen, so being on her set felt electric. Lords of Dogtown taught me the joy of ensemble storytelling—everyone feeds off each other’s energy.” Television work, including Hawaii Five-0, sharpened her ability to inhabit a character quickly. “TV demands speed—you have to lock in fast. Film allows for a slow burn. Both are incredible, and it all comes down to strong writing.”
More Than an Actress
Off-screen, Lockwood has cultivated a rich and multifaceted life. At 17, she became the youngest certified Bikram yoga teacher in the world, later opening two studios in Hawaii, one in Hawaii and the other on Oahu. She also designed a patented line of vase jewelry FLEURINGS, ingenious pieces that hold water and keep flowers fresh.

“Creating feeds everything I do,” she says. “Acting requires discipline and imagination, just like yoga and entrepreneurship. They all inform one another.”
Eyes on the Future
Lockwood is drawn to layered characters, women who are intelligent, complex, and unapologetically themselves. “I love stories that challenge perceptions—spies, doctors, chess players, real historical figures. Characters who live with purpose and defy stereotypes.”
For audiences, she hopes Mya leaves a lasting impression. “You don’t have to be invincible to be a hero. Sometimes bravery is about choosing the right thing, even when it costs you everything.”

With A Line of Fire, Samantha Lockwood isn’t just stepping into the spotlight—she’s commanding it. A talent with heart, grit, and a unique blend of Hollywood heritage and modern vision, she’s a force poised to redefine what it means to be a leading lady in Hollywood’s high-stakes action landscape.
