In the world of being a radio/tv personality, author, and entrepreneur, Tambra Cherie is the boss. It was a lovely conversation had with her about who she is and what we can expect from Belle Collective.

Tambra is a native of Jackson, Mississippi. She knew early in life what she wanted to be, and she went for it. Even though she makes success look easy nothing good comes without a price. Sometimes it depends on how badly you want it. Tambra has that girl power going on and she is a prime example of what a woman can do when she puts her mind to something.

Peebles: Tambra I was watching a clip of the series Belle Collective and it gets spicy on that show, are you all girl friends?
Tambra: from the clip, it doesn’t look like it but to be honest I have known all those ladies for a few years now. I’ve known Aikisha the longest we went to school together and Latrice was a client of ours for a number of years. I also worked for Latrice doing voiceovers for her enterprise that you hear her talking about.  Now Lateshia I meet because she called the station to do her bunch, Gucci I meet when I was a guest host on a show called Bring It on the Lifetime channel. And I met Marie at a bunch for Lateshia as well.

Peebles: So, tell me how you got started in doing what you do, was it something you always wanted to do?
Tambra: I started in television before radio which I don’t think a lot of people realize that. I actually started hosting a local television program when I was in college. Then I interned at a radio station and the rest was history. To be honest, I fell in love with radio, and I fell in love with entertainment. I just fell in love with the business. I used to write for a magazine like you, I wrote for AllHipHop.com. That’s how I started to build my brand. Then I went into radio this is my 4th radio station. I have always loved entertainment, music, and people so it all went together, and I don’t feel like I’m going to work at all.

Peebles: Tambra where can you see yourself in the next five years, what goals do you have?
Tambra: There are so many other things that I want to do, I’m not done. There are so many things I want to do in my career, there are goals that I have not met yet. I want to do more TV.  I love hosting. I have done some things with pop culture. I want to do more of what I’m doing. My platform has to have a purpose even with Belle Collective there’s a purpose.

Tambra Cherie appears on Season 2 of OWN’s Belle Collective.

Peebles: Tell me more about Belle Collective and how you handle sharing your personal life with the world?
Tambra: Belle Collective is something I didn’t see in the cards at the time I got the call to do the show we were in the middle of the pandemic. One thing I know is if God brings me to something it’s a reason, He brings me to it. Lateshia was telling me about Belle Collective and it was a yes for me. I have written a book called Surrounded By Sin Grounded By Love: 8 Simple Keys to Becoming A Better You well, for my book I want it to be on Oprah’s book club. I had a vision board and I had The OWN Network on my vision board in 2020 so when I heard OWN the Network and Oprah it was a yes for me because I knew what I had envisioned it. I know the stereotype that comes with Jackson I wanted to help break those stereotypes. I wanted people to see successful black women in the city of Jackson so be sure to tune in on Friday, May 19th at 8 pm EST and 7 pm CST on The Own Network it’s going to be spicy.
