Apple TV+’s “Masters of the Air” teaser trailer

  • Michael Cox
  • November 9, 2023

Today, Apple TV+ released the first teaser for its highly anticipated, nine-episode limited series, “Masters of the Air.” The series is brought to us by executive producers Steven Spielberg, Tom Hanks, and Gary Goetzman, with the talented John Orloff as the writer. Featuring an impressive ensemble cast including Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle, Nate Mann, Rafferty Law, Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook, and Ncuti Gatwa, “Masters of the Air” is set to debut on Apple TV+ on Friday, January 26, 2024. The series will kick off with two episodes and continue with a new episode every Friday until March 15, 2024.

Donald L. Miller’s book, which serves as the basis for the series, and John Orloff’s script bring to life the harrowing experiences of the 100th Bomb Group (known as the “Bloody Hundredth”) as they carry out dangerous bombing missions over Nazi Germany. The story delves into the challenges they face, including extreme cold, oxygen deprivation, and the overwhelming fear of combat at staggering altitudes of 25,000 feet. At the core of “Masters of the Air” lies a poignant depiction of the psychological and emotional toll endured by these young men as they played a role in dismantling the atrocities of Hitler’s Third Reich. There were individuals who were shot down and captured, while others unfortunately suffered injuries or lost their lives. And fortunately, some were able to safely return to their homes. Irrespective of the outcome for each person, they all suffered a heavy toll.

“Masters of the Air” is an incredibly expansive and comprehensive portrayal of a pivotal period in global history. The series is a true cinematic achievement, with stunning shots captured in various locations. From the picturesque fields and villages of southeast England to the harsh realities of a German Prisoner of War Camp, the series takes viewers on a captivating journey.
