Rory (Matt Damon) and Cobby (Casey Affleck) find themselves as unlikely partners: a desperate father and an ex-con forced to team up in order to carry out a heist on the ill-gotten money of a corrupt politician. However, when the heist takes a turn for the worse, the two are swept up in a frenzy of mayhem, chased not only by law enforcement, but also by stubborn bureaucrats and vengeful underworld figures. Out of their element, they manage to persuade Rory’s therapist (Hong Chau) to join them on a chaotic escape through the city. Along the way, they are forced to set aside their disagreements and collaborate in order to avoid being caught—or facing something even worse.
