Additionally, they’re venturing into hosting conferences to motivate and inspire their community further.
We caught up with The Mbaye Brothers to discuss their experience on the show and get some valuable tips for aspiring real estate flippers and home organization enthusiasts.
Cox: As brothers working together, what do you find to be the greatest advantage, and what are some of the challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The best part of working together is how we blend our strengths. We trust each other’s skills and areas of expertise, which gives us a real confidence boost. But just like any family, handling our emotions and sorting out our differences can sometimes be tough. We’re all about finding solutions, no matter what it takes.
Cox: How would you advise home buyers on renovating on a tight budget?
First, determine what work you can do yourselves so you can save on labor costs. Next, find low-cost substitute materials in good shape that you can include in your project. Lastly, provide a contingency amount for unforeseen events from our initial budget. Normally, people use 20% of the full amount of the budget. Remember, a tight budget doesn’t have to limit your vision; it can inspire you to think outside the box and uncover hidden gems that add character and charm to your home.
Cox: Home renovation can be unpredictable, with unexpected challenges arising during projects. Can you recall a particularly difficult obstacle you’ve had to overcome, and how did you navigate it?
The most difficult issues in renovations are always hidden behind the walls, underground, under the floors, and in the ceiling. One of the biggest challenges we faced on Season 1 of Hoarder House Flippers was when asbestos was found in the Laval house. We had to wear safety masks and suits just to enter the house, and decontaminate everything. While challenges may be frustrating, try to maintain a positive outlook throughout the process. Focus on the progress you’ve made and the ultimate goal of creating a beautiful, functional space. Celebrate small victories along the way to stay motivated and inspired.
Cox: On the show “Hoarder House Flippers”, you’ve experienced some extremely dilapidated and cluttered homes, can you offer any tips for decluttering and home organization?
First, always search through the clutter for anything valuable. Then, tackle one room at a time. It helps mentally to see progress, especially when it feels overwhelming. Afterward, to maintain cleanliness and organization, dedicate time every day to the task. Avoid accumulating more stuff; keeping a home tidy is a daily commitment. Remember, every small step you take toward decluttering and organizing your home brings you closer to creating a space that feels peaceful and inviting.
Cox: Many viewers dream of renovating or flipping homes themselves. What advice would you give to someone looking to start their own real estate or renovation journey?
First, you need to set a budget, include a contingency fund, and stick to it! Then, work with professionals because in house flipping, time is money. If you realize something will take you forever to do, it’s better to pay a professional. They’re accustomed to doing it every day, saving you time and money.
Cox: Looking ahead, what are some upcoming projects or goals you’re excited to pursue, both individually and as a team?
Issa: I want to teach everyone about risk management before embarking on a project and above all knowing how to make the right decisions at the right time. Especially when it comes to money.
Mactar: I’m getting back into vlogging on my YouTube channel! I’m excited to share all of my new projects, such as building my real estate team, Groupe Mbaye, and my foundation, Youth Rising Estate, which offers financial literacy and real estate basics for youth aged 14-21. Additionally, I’ll be sharing updates on my new flips on my social media platforms! Furthermore, I’m working on the 6th edition of my real estate conference, Immo Bros, which is going to be huge this year. We’re aiming for 750 attendees.
Khadim: I’m currently engaged in a sports development initiative in Senegal, with a background spanning 14 years in football, I am now channeling my passion toward the youth in my homeland. We are facilitating the importation of equipment through our equipment drive here in Canada, establishing both a tackling and flag football league in collaboration with my organization, and integrating this new discipline into a sports-study program in Senegal. Power Circle Athletics serves as a conduit between Africa and America, aiming to enhance international opportunities for African athletes. Amidst these endeavors, I extend my sincere gratitude to the dedicated staff of my Security Agency whose outstanding efforts enable me to focus on giving back and providing opportunities for those who stand to benefit from them.
As a group, our goal is to remain active in the TV industry, working on new shows, creating content, and starting to host conferences together to motivate our community and people around us!
