His journey from humble beginnings to securing a recurring role on Netflix’s Orange Is The New Black and ultimately a series regular role on BET’s Sistas is a testament to his steadfast belief in himself, even when faced with uncertainty.

“I’m like, you can’t do all of those in one lifetime. There’s not enough time.” The only way I could ever be all of those things over the course of my lifetime is to play those characters,” he shared.

Branden’s wide range of interests and innate creativity led him on a journey of self-discovery and exploration during his formative years. He discovered his true passion for acting, driven by a deep desire to bring different characters to life and captivate audiences, after initially aspiring to be a lawyer and then pursuing a career as a rapper. His journey was filled with obstacles as he grappled with the expectation of narrowing his focus in a society that values specialization. Nevertheless, Branden’s dedication to pursuing his passion for acting remained strong.

“I always say vision gives sacrifice a purpose. If you don’t know where you’re going, you don’t know why you make the sacrifices,” he stated. 

Branden has navigated the entertainment industry, skillfully balancing his multitude of talents. He discovered a passion for spoken word poetry in the fourth grade, finding it to be a powerful means of self-expression and a way to channel his energy. Throughout his career, Branden has developed a remarkable proficiency in both acting and poetry, demonstrating a remarkable range and a profound dedication to his art. The way he effortlessly combines these talents showcases his artistic depth and passion for storytelling.

“A major part of me growing from a boy to a man was realizing that any joy I generated externally was a non-sustainable energy source. I learned to not base it on the job I wanted, got, or didn’t get. My joy truly comes from Jesus Christ, and I understand that life itself is a blessing,” he shared.

The convergence of fear and opportunity greatly influenced Branden’s journey, compelling him to face his fears and venture beyond his comfort zone. He embraced challenges, from pursuing stand-up comedy to taking on new roles in various projects.
