First Look at Apple TV+’s “Pachinko”
Apple TV+ has just announced the highly anticipated second season of its acclaimed drama “Pachinko,” along with a sneak peek and the premiere date. The second season of “Pachinko” will be released globally on Friday, August 23. It will be told in three languages — Korean, Japanese, and English — and will consist of eight, one-hour episodes. The episodes will be released weekly every Friday until October 11. Coming from Media Res, “Pachinko” has garnered acclaim for its masterful storytelling and has been hailed as a captivating and emotionally resonant experience that should not be missed. The series garnered critical acclaim during its first season, quickly earning a Certified Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. It has been hailed as “masterful” and lauded as “an extraordinary drama” and “one of the best shows of 2022.”
Derived from the acclaimed novel, “Pachinko” is a poignant and expansive tale that explores love and resilience over the course of four generations. The first season was recognized with numerous international awards, including a Peabody Award, an American Film Institute Award, a Critics Choice Award, and a Gotham Independent Film Award. The cast of season two includes Lee Minho, Minha Kim, Anna Sawai, Yuh-Jung Youn, Jin Ha, Eunchae Jung, Soji Arai, Junwoo Han, and Sungkyu Kim.
“Pachinko” is crafted by Soo Hugh, who also serves as executive producer alongside Michael Ellenberg and Lindsey Springer from Media Res, and Theresa Kang from Blue Marble Pictures. Season two is helmed by Leanne Welham, Arvin Chen, and Sang-il Lee.
