HAROLD AND THE PURPLE CRAYON

  • Michael Cox
  • March 25, 2024

In his book, the imaginative Harold (Zachary Levi) has the power to bring anything to life just by drawing it. Once he matures and steps out of the book’s pages and into the real world, Harold discovers that there is much for him to grasp about reality. He soon realizes that his reliable purple crayon may lead to even more amusing and unexpected adventures than he had anticipated. Harold and his friends must rely on their boundless creativity to protect both the real world and their own when the power of unlimited imagination is misused. Harold and the Purple Crayon is a film adaptation of the beloved children’s classic that has captivated young readers for decades.

The live-action hybrid family adventure/comedy is directed by Carlos Saldanha and produced by John Davis. It features a talented cast including Zachary Levi, Lil Rel Howery, Benjamin Bottani, Jemaine Clement, Tanya Reynolds, Alfred Molina, and Zooey Deschanel. The film’s screenplay is crafted by David Guion and Michael Handelman, drawing inspiration from the book by Crockett Johnson.
