“I Know What You Did Last Summer” Returns This Friday—And Baby, It’s Personal

  • Michael Cox
  • July 14, 2025

Some secrets stay buried. Others come back swinging with a hook.

This Friday, the iconic slasher I Know What You Did Last Summer returns with a brand-new chapter—and it’s not just banking on nostalgia. It’s sharper, bloodier, and way more personal. A new generation of reckless friends thinks they can get away with a deadly mistake. One fatal hit-and-run later, and they’ve made the worst decision possible in horror movie history: covering it up.

Fast-forward a year—and somebody knows. Not just knows… they’re watching. Waiting. And ready to make them pay.

But this isn’t just some random revenge plot. Nope. This has happened before. And that’s when things get even juicier.

The Originals Are Back

Jennifer Love Hewitt reprises her role as Julie James, and Freddie Prinze Jr. returns as Ray Bronson—the only two survivors of the infamous Southport Massacre of ’97. And they didn’t just show up to relive trauma—they’re here to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself. Or worse: finish what was never truly over.

The return of Julie and Ray links this new installment directly to the beloved original. It gives longtime fans a reason to scream (and cheer), while introducing fresh faces who are messier, younger, and in way over their heads.

Whether you’re an OG fan of the 1997 classic or just here for some late-night thrills, this one delivers. It’s suspenseful, chaotic, a little nostalgic, and fully aware of the horror legacy it’s carrying. With strong performances, smart callbacks, and a killer who’s done playing games, I Know What You Did Last Summer is the summer scream-fest we didn’t know we needed.

So go ahead, cancel your Friday plans.

Because they know what you did. And they’re not just coming—they’re already here.
