Lemar Ingram took his street hustle to corporate America and found success

  • December 8, 2023

Lemar, a true New Yorker at heart, was immersed in the vibrant hip-hop culture from a young age. Lemar discovered that his passion had sparked as a result of iconic figures like Master P, Too Short, and others who hustled their way to success by selling music from their cars. Determined to make his mark in the industry, he pursued higher education in order to learn the intricacies of music production, video creation, filmmaking, and sound design, all of which would propel his musical aspirations forward.

As Lemar delved into producing his own music and albums, he soon realized that relying solely on the street hustle he had learned wasn’t enough to sustain a stable income. With unwavering ambition, he redirected his focus towards corporate America, leveraging his street-smart skills within the boardroom. Through hard work and resilience, Lemar has emerged as a thriving executive, successfully blending his unique experiences and talents to achieve remarkable career milestones.

“The skills that we hold in high regard for hustlers can be utilized in corporate America, but we never get the opportunity to utilize those skills because nine times out of 10, we take the surface-level message and miss the hidden meaning,” according to Ingram.
I find Lemar truly inspiring due to his remarkable achievements in corporate America as well as his successful career as an author. His book, titled THE G-CODE: Hip-Hop Connoisseur’s Guide Through Corporate America, provides valuable insights into how we can learn from both positive and negative environments by applying the right mindset and approach.

“The writing of the book wasn’t my initial intention. When my mother passed away, who was also a writer, one Thanksgiving, as I was sitting around, I wanted to feel a connection to her. So, I just picked up a pen and started to write. One thing she always taught me was to write about what you know. I started to write a personal log about how I live my life and how I make the decisions I make. As I started writing, words began to pour out of me, and before I knew it, I had written a whole book,” said Lemar.
Lemar’s book carries a profound message of embracing authenticity and staying true to oneself. “The most important thing, believe it or not, is to be yourself. You have to know that you are good enough to be anything you want to be, just as you are. You don’t have to become something you’re not to accomplish your goals,” said Lemar.

We are well aware that life presents us with numerous challenges, particularly when we have a passionate dream deep within our hearts. However, it is our approach to overcoming these obstacles that truly demonstrates our inner greatness. In this context, Lemar shares his personal strategies for dealing with the unpredictable nature of life.

“The most challenging thing is that everybody has an idea of what things are supposed to be. People have stereotypes. They have an idea of what people are supposed to look like. When I first started in corporate America, you had to look a certain way and talk in a certain way. You had to give the perception and reflection of what people were expecting to rise within the ranks. It’s in your SAT scores or your college degree; it’s about things that are standardized and quantifiable. But what I’ve come to realize is that successful people don’t even care about that stuff,” said Lemar.

Lemar has skillfully utilized all available resources to propel himself towards greater heights of success. If you are interested in exploring his distinctive concepts, immersive audiovisual journey, and unconventional insights, you can conveniently purchase his book, THE G-CODE, on Amazon.
