Paramount+ has announced the premiere date for its highly anticipated original movie Star Trek: Section 31, set to debut on Friday, January 24, exclusively on Paramount+. The announcement, accompanied by new teaser art, was revealed during the STAR TREK universe panel at New York Comic Con, where fans got an inside look from panelists including cast members Omari Hardwick, Kacey Rohl, Robert Kazinsky, and the film’s executive producer and director, Olatunde Osunsanmi. Michelle Yeoh, the film’s Oscar®-winning star, made a special video appearance to connect with fans and share her excitement for the film.

In Star Trek: Section 31, Yeoh reprises her iconic role as Emperor Philippa Georgiou, a character beloved by fans since her debut in Star Trek: Discovery. Now, Georgiou joins Section 31, a covert division of Starfleet tasked with protecting the United Federation of Planets while confronting her dark past. As the plot unfolds, Georgiou faces moral and existential challenges that promise to push her character—and the Star Trek universe—into thrilling new territory.

Alongside Yeoh, the movie stars an impressive ensemble cast, including Omari Hardwick (Power), Kacey Rohl (Hannibal), Emmy® winner Sam Richardson (Ted Lasso), Sven Ruygrok (One Piece), Robert Kazinsky (Pacific Rim), Humberly Gonzalez (Ginny & Georgia), and James Hiroyuki Liao (Barry). Miku Martineau (Kate) also joins the cast, portraying a young Philippa Georgiou, bringing a new dimension to the backstory of Yeoh’s character.

Written by Craig Sweeny and directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, Star Trek: Section 31 is produced by CBS Studios in collaboration with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Executive producers include Star Trek veterans Alex Kurtzman and Michelle Yeoh, along with Craig Sweeny, Aaron Baiers, Frank Siracusa, John Weber, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth.

Star Trek: Section 31 joins the growing roster of Star Trek content on Paramount+, including the hit shows Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, the animated favorite Star Trek: Lower Decks, and the upcoming Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Fans can also stream all seasons of Star Trek: Discovery and Star Trek: Picard, the latter of which sees Patrick Stewart reprise his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard.

With Section 31, fans can expect an action-packed journey through the morally complex underbelly of the Star Trek universe, led by Yeoh’s magnetic performance.
