The film stars Brandee Evans, Parker Mckenna Posey, and Shalim Ortiz.

I had the opportunity to have a conversation with two of the movie’s talented actors, Shalim Ortiz and Parker McKenna Posey.

The conversation begins with both actors sharing their initial fascination with the film. The storyline particularly captivated Parker, who found it a refreshing departure from her previous BET+ experiences. She was thrilled to embrace a role that departed from her typical characters, providing a blend of action and complexity. Shalim expressed similar thoughts, emphasizing the gripping and vivid nature of the script, which captivated his attention and fueled his enthusiasm for the project. The pair’s passion for their roles is evident, indicating that INCISION is anything but a typical movie.

“When I read the script, there was so much in the story. Things got so intense and graphic,” Ortiz stated.

“It was honestly so much fun to just really step outside of myself and do something completely different,” Posey expressed.

The real-time storytelling approach in INCISION is truly captivating, as the entire plot unfolds within 24 hours. The format requires actors to fully immerse themselves in the moment and effectively convey the urgency and intensity of the storyline. Shalim highlighted the significant impact of the real-time aspect on his connection with his character, Blake, as he navigates through a series of intense and challenging experiences. The film’s fast-paced nature intensifies its gripping narrative, ensuring that viewers remain on the edge of their seats.



“It’s interesting because I remember a partner and I having a moment where we realized that during our rehearsal, twenty five pages later in the script, only two hours had passed. It’s fascinating and not common in most films,”  Ortiz remarked.

INCISION expertly develops its characters, showcasing their humanity through relatable motivations and emotions. Parker portrays her character, Gia, as a strong and self-reliant woman who confidently embraces her wealth. Parker’s performance in this role revealed a previously unseen aspect of her talent, exuding a captivating aura of confidence and resilience on screen. Gia’s character exemplifies the film’s dedication to portraying intricate and multifaceted female characters.

“Gia is a badass, and she stands on that,” Parker stated.



Shalim’s portrayal of Blake demanded a deep understanding of a character who, despite his profession as a hitman, experiences profound anguish. The character gains depth and becomes more than a flat, one-dimensional figure thanks to the emotional depth portrayed. The connection between Blake and Gia is truly remarkable, as their shared experiences and struggles bring a deeply moving dimension to the film’s narrative. Their dynamic beautifully mirrors the film’s overarching themes of love, loyalty, and survival.

“I connected with Blake by bringing to the table what I could and what Dale had envisioned for him,”  Ortiz stated.

The movie’s plot twists and turns are captivating, leaving audiences in suspense until the very end. Shalim and Parker both highlighted the captivating nature of the storyline, which is brimming with surprising twists and turns that keep the audience on their toes. The element of surprise in the film is essential for its appeal, as it encourages viewers to remain engaged and think critically about the unfolding events. The intricate plot is a testament to the skillful direction and writing, which keep the tension high throughout.
