Prime Video Unveils Trailer and for The Sticky, a Dark Comedy Inspired by Canada’s Infamous Maple Syrup Heist
Prime Video has dropped the official trailer and key art for The Sticky, a fast-paced dark comedy from Blumhouse Television that’s based on the notorious 2012 “Great Canadian Maple Syrup Heist,” where more than $18 million worth of maple syrup vanished from Quebec’s reserves. Set to premiere December 6, the six-episode series promises a wild mix of humor, suspense, and drama as it follows an unlikely band of thieves plotting to steal Canada’s “liquid gold.”
Led by Emmy Award-winner Margo Martindale as Ruth Landry, a tenacious maple syrup farmer facing the loss of her livelihood, The Sticky follows her dive into crime as she joins forces with a fiery Boston mobster (Chris Diamantopoulos) and a mild-mannered security guard (Guillaume Cyr). Together, this unlikely trio of criminals plot a multi-million-dollar maple syrup heist with high stakes, moments of culture-clash hilarity, and plenty of sticky situations. The new trailer teases their madcap journey through small-town Quebec as they scramble to avoid law enforcement, wreak havoc, and—possibly—commit murder. Fans also get a first look at legendary Oscar and Emmy winner Jamie Lee Curtis in a powerful guest role.
From showrunners and creators Brian Donovan and Ed Herro, The Sticky is produced by Blumhouse Television, Jamie Lee Curtis’ Comet Pictures, Jonathan Levine’s Megamix, and Sphere Media. Alongside Donovan and Herro, the executive production team includes Jonathan Levine and Gillian Bohrer for Megamix, Jamie Lee Curtis for Comet Pictures, and Jason Blum for Blumhouse Television, among others.
The Sticky joins Prime Video’s growing slate of Canadian Originals, including award-winning documentaries The Tragically Hip: No Dress Rehearsal and Mr. Dressup: The Magic of Make-Believe, as well as hit series like Three Pines, LOL: Last One Laughing Canada, and The Unsolved Murder of Beverly Lynn Smith.
Premiering December 6 on Prime Video in over 240 countries and territories, The Sticky brings a uniquely Canadian twist to the world of crime comedy, promising audiences a deliciously devious tale of crime, culture, and Canada’s beloved maple syrup.
