The Inspiring Journey of a Young Fashion Designer: Nikita Karizma
I want to share with you the incredible journey of a talented young fashion designer named Nikita Karizma. Born into a family with a rich history in the fashion industry, Nikita’s love for fashion was nurtured from a young age. Growing up in the vibrant and fashion-forward city of London, she was surrounded by diverse styles and influences that shaped her unique perspective on fashion.
“I think my upbringing mixed with my fashion education gave me a forward thinking lens on how I can work in this industry,” Karizma shared.
Nikita’s passion for fashion truly blossomed when she pursued her studies at the London College of Fashion.London’s fashion scene, known for its individualism and fearless self-expression, further fueled her creative spirit.
What sets British fashion apart is its emphasis on individuality rather than being defined by brands. The people of London are not afraid to express themselves through their style, mixing and matching pieces from various sources to create unique and curated looks. “I find it very interesting and curated because they might take something from their grandmother’s wardrobe that’s vintage style and mix it with a high street brand designer wear,” Nikita explained.
“It was eye opening for me to be one minute a student to next Lady Gaga wanting to wear one of my designs,” Nikita stated. Her own journey in the fashion industry started with custom pieces for local celebrities, eventually evolving into a ready-to-wear collection that emphasized high-quality craftsmanship. She shared that it wasn’t until a few musician clients gave her actual paid work that she realized she could monetize her creativity and “turn it into a business.” This was the part of the journey that gave her insight into how she would further head in one specific direction when it came to fashion.
When it comes to the crucial decision of choosing between custom-made and ready-to-wear designs, Nikita’s advice to aspiring designers is thought-provoking. She highlights the importance of considering the long-term sustainability and quality of craftsmanship in the fashion business. For her, the transition to ready-to-wear was driven by a desire for a more peaceful and steady lifestyle, while still valuing the relationships she had built with her clients.
Nikita’s brand, named after herself, reflects the tradition of many young designers in London who choose to label their creations with their own names. This personal touch adds a sense of authenticity and connection to her brand, reinforcing her commitment to her craft and her dedication to creating fashion that is both timeless and meaningful.
It’s more than branding for Nikita. She is focused on several philanthropic initiatives from tree planting globally to women driven missions. “We currently have planted over 250,000 trees and within the next ten years our goal is to plant one million trees,” Karizma explained. For her as much is given to her in terms of opportunities, she makes it her mission to give back to the planet earth and its people.
Her journey from a family of fashion buyers to establishing her own brand is a testament to her talent, determination, and unwavering commitment to quality and individual expression. Her story serves as an inspiration to aspiring designers and fashion enthusiasts, showcasing the power of creativity, perseverance, and a deep love for the art of fashion. Keep an eye out for Nikita’s latest designs, as she continues to make her mark on the ever-evolving world of fashion.
